Powered by a deep learning processing unit (DLPU), the AXIS M4218-LV supports advanced analytics directly on the edge. This allows organizations to take advantage of intelligent video analytics while reducing reliance on external processing resources. Features such as human detection, vehicle detection, face detection, and cross-line detection help support modern security and monitoring applications.

The camera includes a 3.5–6.6mm varifocal lens with remote zoom and focus, providing installation flexibility and allowing the viewing area to be adjusted without physically accessing the lens. Its Optimized IR technology provides enhanced visibility in low-light and nighttime conditions, while WDR helps maintain image detail in scenes with both bright and dark areas.

For applications requiring a public viewing display, the AXIS M4218-LV includes an HDMI output. Audio and additional I/O functionality can also be added using compatible AXIS T61 Series accessories. The camera supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing power and network connectivity to be delivered through a single Ethernet cable.
